LOUDONVILL­E — Katharine P. Hayes, 74, of Loudonvill­e and Hobe Sound, Fla., beloved wife of Michael M. Hayes, died peacefully Saturday, October 27, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chestnut Hill, Pa., on April 13, 1944, Kate was the daughter of the late William James Pearson and Teresa Etheldrith­a (Duffy) Pearson. She was a 1966 graduate of Regis College in Weston, Mass.

Kate was a longtime Junior League member in Bethlehem, Pa., Philadelph­ia, Pa., New York, N.Y., and Nashville, Tenn. Kate loved ballet and was a member of the Lehigh Valley Ballet Company. Kate also loved sports, especially competitiv­e swimming, and won numerous awards as a teenager. She was also a lover of tennis and golf.

Kate is survived by her son Benjamin T. Sawyer; stepsons, Michael F. (Elizabeth) Hayes, David H. (Lauren) Hayes, and John C. (Jennifer) Hayes; and cherished grandchild­ren, Sienna and Ryan Sawyer, Caroline, Emma, Patrick, Jack, Michaela, Grace, Samantha, Margaret, Liam, William, and Kylie Hayes. She is also survived by her sisters, Dritha (Pearson) Mccoy and Anne D. (Pearson) Gardner; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predecease­d by her brothers, William P. Pearson, M.D., James R. Pearson and sister, Mary T. (Pearson) Succop.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kareen and the wonderful staff of the Albany Medical Center and the Teresian House for their loving care and support.
