MONROVIA, Calif. — Michael Keogh Sheehan of Monrovia, the devoted husband of Genevieve Smith Sheehan and loving father of Jack Robert Sheehan, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

Michael, son of Anne Sheehan and the late J. Robert Sheehan, was born in Albany on November 17, 1963. In addition to his wife, son, and mother, he is also survived by his sisters and brothers, Maura (John) Barrett, Sean (Tina) Sheehan, Teige (Rebecca) Sheehan, and Siobhan (Travis) Rosencrans­e; as well Genevieve’s parents, Kathy and Don Smith, and her sisters, Megan (Thomas) Mcguane and Elizabeth (Brendan) Mctear. He is also survived by his uncle, Philip Harper, and aunts Suzanne Walsh and Sandra Harper, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graduate of Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, Michael received his bachelor of science in computer science from The College of Saint Rose, Albany, and a master of fine arts from The American Film Institute, Los Angeles. Mike’s wide range of editing credits included HBO, CSI: NY, and a variety of reality and documentar­y production­s. He taught AVID editing at the Los Angeles Film School before joining the faculty of The American Film Institute, the position he held at the time of his passing. His vocation befitted his boundless enthusiasm for all aspects of film and his enjoyment of cinema as art and entertainm­ent. Everyone who knew Mike attests that he was one of the most kind-hearted, jovial, passionate, well-read, and intelligen­t people they would ever encounter, and his exceptiona­lly quick and clever wit made the world a happier place.

Michael’s funeral was held in California on October 13, 2018. Friends and family are also invited to attend a memorial Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 3.
