Malachowski, Mary L.
COHOES — Malachowski (nee Colquhoun) passed away after a short illness at the age of 85 on January 8, 2019.
She attended Mount Pleasant High School, and upon graduation, she went to work at the General Electric Company in Schenectady and held accounting jobs at several businesses. In the late ’70s, she and her husband Frank became proud owners of and managed the Blains Bay Marina in Colonie. She enjoyed boating on the Mohawk River, celebrating her Scottish heritage, and was devoted to her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank Malachowski and sister Ann Button. She is survived by her sons, David Malachowski of New York City, and John Malachowski of Colonie; and granddaughter Lindsay Malachowski of New York City.
Calling hours are from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday at the Marra Funeral Home. Mary L. Quickenton in Albany. Rosemary was the loving wife to the late John M. Meliski for over 50 years; together they raised five children. Rosemary was a long-term member of St. Pius X Church and served as a eucharistic minister. She will be remembered for her love of shopping, especially at Macy’s, and loved traveling and dining out with her husband and friends. Her true passion in life was her family. Rosemary was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; her brother, Jack Quickenton; and her motherin-law, Anna Schofield. She is survived by her children, Rich (Colleen) Meliski, Linda Teller, Cindy (Doug) Durfey, Diane (Cleve Eads) Robertson, and Susan (Brian) Peek; her 14 grandchildren, John, Angela, Adam, Josh, Jaime, Chris, Jeremy, Danielle, Kristen, Jenna, Nicole, Courtney, Joe, and Brianna; her 23 greatgrandchildren; her sister, Judy (Tony) Stellato, and several nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Thursday, January 17, from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd, Loudonville on Friday, January 18, at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
