CLIFTON PARK — Salvatore J. Costanzo, 88 of Pine Ridge II, died suddenly on Monday, January 14, 2019, after being stricken at home.

Born in Mechanicvi­lle on July 29, 1930, he was the son of the late Raphael and Rose Taglione Costanzo. After graduating from Mechanicvi­lle High School, Sal enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, and was discharged as a sergeant. Sal was a machinist for many years at the former Ford Motor plant in Green Island. He had also volunteere­d at Our Lady of Hope for a number of years.

Sal will be remembered for his jovial personalit­y, quick wit and friendly ways. An avid golfer, Sal along with many friends, played in Van Patten golf leagues, where he served for several years as president. He also was a diehard N.Y. Yankees fan who always expected them to be champions. He enjoyed bowling and get togethers with family and friends. Years ago, Sal was a dedicated Mechanicvi­lle- Stillwater Little League manager, coach, and league official who loved teaching young boys the game of baseball. He had been more interested in teaching than winning.

He was predecease­d by his daughter Teresa Costanzo; and sisters, Phyllis Martinelli and Susan Maloney. Survi-

y vors include his wife of 11 years, Helen Hebert Costanzo; daughter Mary Costanzo; son Salvatore (Carolyn) Costanzo; grandchild­ren, Tara, Drew and Hannah; great-grandkids, Shane and Niamh; stepchildr­en, Neil, Gary and Ron Urbaetis and Valerie Farley, Deborah Hebert Croyle, Christophe­r (Melissa) Hebert; step-grandkids; brother Ralph (Majiel) Costanzo of Michigan; nieces, nephews and families.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Crescent and burial with military honors will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours at the Devitosalv­adore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicvi­lle on Thursday from 3-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, remembranc­es may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in respectful memory of Sal Costanzo.

Brianna was a beautiful, caring and loving young lady that had a heart of gold and was always there for anyone that needed her help. She had such a love for her family, especially her little boy Justice. She loved playing basketball, having camp fires and even splitting wood. We will always cherish her beautiful smile, amazing personalit­y and all the precious memories she created.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the House of Praise, located on Route 9 in Castleton. Friends and family may attend her calling hours on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wm. J. Rockefelle­r Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpke, Rensselaer. Interment will be private at the convenienc­e of the family.
