Rick Jones, who resigned as CEO of Mechanical Technology Inc. earlier this month, has decided to take the CEO job at Wojeski and Company CPAS, P.C., a Colonie accounting and financial services firm.

Jones will take over the day-to-day operations of Wojeski and Co., allowing company founder David Wojeski to focus on customer service and expanding the company's capabilities and portfolio.

Jones spent 28 years at MTI, which makes test and measurement devices for the aerospace and semiconductor industries and has recently entered the Bitcoin market. He started as a staff accountant at the firm before being promoted to chief financial officer and then secretary and treasurer before becoming CEO in 2017.

“I am thrilled to join the talented team at Wojeski and Co., which over nearly 30 years has built an impeccable reputation for providing exceptional expertise and superb service driven by honesty, integrity, professionalism, and an outstanding culture,” Jones said in a statement.

Wojeski called Jones the "perfect choice" to take the job.

“We are dedicated to growing the firm by enriching our recognized client service, expanding our capabilities and business portfolio, and providing career advancement to current employees and new opportunities to attract topnotch professionals," David Wojeski said. "I am fully committed and newly energized to work with Rick, and look forward to the start of an exciting new era for our firm.”

Wojeski says he will be freed up to spend time to expand two of the firm's financial services units, Greenbush Financial Group and CFO Advisory Group. Wojeski is also planning to develop a new unit focused on mergers and acquisitions.
