Geyser Road Trail project in Saratoga Springs on hold
Q: What is the status of the Geyser Road Trail project in Saratoga Springs? It is paved and most of the landscaping appears to be completed, but the trail remains closed, as evidenced by several barriers. No work appears to have been done in about a month.
—Daniel Brown, Ballston Spa A: The trail is “substantially complete at the moment,” said Bradley Birge, administrator of planning and economic development for Saratoga Springs.
The city is experiencing supply chain issues with mast arms, which are part of improvements to the intersection of Route 50 and Geyser Road. Birge said that he currently expects the mast arms to be delivered in early November. The delay is a result of the COVID -19 pandemic.
The trail itself is mostly complete and will be open as soon as the intersection improvements are finished.
CDPHP Cycle!: The program is introducing a new bicycle model starting in October. The new bikes are more durable and connect better to the system software. The addition will increase the fleet of bikes to nearly 500 for next season.
Although the onset of the coronavirus pandemic delayed its launch, CDPHP Cycle! has recorded more than 20,000 rides since its June launch and is now on pace to reach 35,000 rides before it ends in November.
It saw its highest-ever week of ridership in late August, with nearly 3,000 trips.
Cleaning and disinfecting measures are ongoing, and each bike is equipped with hand sanitizer.
