Swiatek ousts women’s top seed Halep in Paris
PARIS — Women’s top seed Simona Halep and men’s sixth seed Alexander Zverev were both beaten by 19-year-olds Sunday in the fourth round of the French Open.
Iga Swiatek stunned world No. 2 Halep 6-1, 6-2, and Jannik Sinner downed
Zverev 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
Zverev said he had a fever with a temperature of 100.4 degrees from his previous match against Marco Cecchinato, which could be a concern if Zverev returns a positive coronavirus test.
Sinner faces Rafael Nadal, the defending champion, who dismissed Sebastian Korda 6-1, 6-1, 6-2.
Dominic Thiem defeated Hugo Gaston 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 3-6, 6-3. Thiem will nextface Diego Schwartzman, who defeated Lorenzo Sonego 6-1, 6-3, 6-4.
Among the women, Martina Trevisan beat fifth seed Kiki Bertens 6-4, 6-4 and faces Swiatek next. Thirdseeded Elina Svitolina dispatched Caroline Garcia 6-1, 6-3 and will take on Nadia Podoroska next.

College football: Oklahoma has dropped out of The Associated Press college football poll for the first time since September 2016. There largely was stability at the top of the rankings Sunday after No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia and No. 4 Florida all won big, though the Bulldogs and Gators switched spots. Clemson received 52 first-place votes and Alabama got eight. Notre Dame was idle and held at No. 5, while No. 6 Ohio State received two first-place votes despite no Big Ten games scheduled until late October.
