Capitol, Plaza tours continue to Oct. 23 Scleroderma Foundation event is Saturday
ALBANY — The free exterior Capitol architecture tours, outdoor Empire State Plaza art collection tours and tours of the Plaza itself will continue through Oct. 23. The 45-minute tours will take place on Fridays and on Wednesdays.
The schedule is: Exterior Capitol architecture tours, 10 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays
Sitting atop State Street hill, the State Capitol has served as the state’s seat of government since the 1880s. The building is a marvel of late 19th-century architectural grandeur, built by hand of solid masonry over a period of 32 years.
Empire State Plaza art collection outdoor tours, 11 a.m., Wednesdays and Fridays
The collection was put together under the direction of Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller during the construction of the Empire State Plaza, 1966-78. A highlight is Triangles and Arches by Alexander Calder, 20th century sculptor.
Empire State Plaza tours, noon, Wednesdays and Fridays
A 98.5 acre city-within-a-city that includes one of the greatest public collections of modern American art in the country, a cultural education center and a unique performing arts center, The Egg. Meet outside at the main entrance to The Egg. Participants must wear face masks and observe physical distancing. Reservations are required. Call 518-474-2418.
The Scleroderma Foundation Tri- State Chapter will hold its Virtual Stepping Out to Cure
Scleroderma event on Saturday.
The family-friendly event brings together people with scleroderma, their families, friends and volunteers to honor people with scleroderma and lift the spirits of those who support them. Funds will help provide education and support services to the scleroderma community and help fund research to discover the cause, understand the mechanism and overcome scleroderma.
