Baby no longer a secret

Mindy Kaling knows how to keep a secret.
The Emmy-nominated actress and writer is the mother of a bouncing baby boy.
She shared the surprising baby news while appearing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Thursday.
“I’m telling it for the first time now, it feels so strange. I gave birth to a baby boy on Sept. 3,” she excitedly revealed. “It’s true! His name is Spencer. I forgot the most important part of it.”
Responding the announcement, Colbert said in shock, “No one even knew you were pregnant.”
“I know,” the 41-yearold Cambridge, Mass., native admitted. “This is news to a lot of people. It’s true.”
“The Office” alum and star of “The Mindy Project” welcomed a baby girl, Katherine, in 2017.
She joked with Colbert about how, although paparazzi did photograph while in her third trimester, tabloids didn’t mention her pregnancy with her big belly showing.
“I thought, ‘Oh, OK, now they’re going to know.’ Because I was eight months pregnant,” Kaling said of the snapshots. “This is what’s funny. They were too nervous to claim that I was pregnant.”
“It was almost more insulting,” she quipped about the politically correct culture. “They were like, ‘Oh yeah, Mindy Kaling just looks like this.’”
“If you’re not pregnant” and look like she does in the photos, “you need to go to the doctor,” she added.
Stammering, Colbert refused to go there with her.
Kaling jokingly demanded: “Comment on my body!”
In the past, the bestselling author, whose real name is Vera Mindy Chokalingam, has not revealed the identify of the father of her daughter, explaining to The New York Times last year: “My feeling is that until I speak to my daughter about that, I’m not going to talk to anyone else about it.”
