The program, livestream­ed from Albany’s Palace Theatre, celebrates the composer’s 250th birthday and features his overture and finale to “The Creatures of Prometheus” and ends with Symphony No. 1. The evening also includes Michael Torke’s “Ash,” composed in 1988, and Viet Cuong’s “Extra (Ordinarily) Fancy.”

Hoosac began carrying on the longstandi­ng Elizabetha­n Tibbits family tradition in 1892 and has since become nationally recognized as one of only a few institutio­ns globally still hosting the annual event. The COVID-19 pandemic represents the first disruption to the play since its inaugural performanc­e.
