The Siena men's basketball team's home games against Canisius, postponed this weekend because of COVID -19, have been rescheduled for Dec. 26 and 27 at Alumni Recreation center, it was announced Wednesday.

The Saturday, Dec. 26 contest will tip off at 1 p.m. and the Sunday, Dec. 27 game will begin at 4 p.m.

The Saints are scheduled to open the season at nonleague foe Drexel on Tuesday, followed by the back-to-back games against the Golden Griffins in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.

Due to current coronavirus protocols, fans are not allowed to attend any Siena home games at this time. Siena said more information on how to watch and follow the Saints on game days is forthcoming.

The Siena-canisius games are listed to be live-streamed on ESPN3 or ESPN-PLUS. It is not clear if the games might also be televised locally. Like all Siena games, they'll be available on the radio at 1300 AM.

After not playing for nine months, Siena will cap a stretch of four games in eight days when the Saints play host to Towson on Dec. 29.

The Saints came out of a 14-day pause on Monday at midnight and, at the direction of their medical staff, postponed the Canisius games this weekend because they would have been too soon for the players to be physically ready.

Siena has had to reschedule four league games already because of the pandemic. The MAAC opening weekend at Fairfield on Dec. 11 and 12 was pushed back to Feb. 26 and 27 after the Saints had a positive test.
