LATHAM — Julia F. Kane, 95 of Latham, beloved wife of the late Stephen J. Kane, peacefully entered into eternal life on Monday, December 14, 2020, at The Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy with family by her side.

Born on October 12, 1925, in Watervliet, Julia was the daughter of the late Hnat and Anna (Karafanda) Felack. She was a graduate of Watervliet High School. Julia married the love of her life Stephen J. Kane on May 23, 1948, and the two cherished a loving and devoted marriage of 56 years before his passing on April 19, 2005.

Julia worked for the New York State Office of Substance Abuse Services in Albany, retiring in 1988 after 20 years of service. Julia was a resident of Latham since 1955. She was a former member of the Red Hat Society and Watervliet Senior Citizens. Julia also loved traveling with her late husband Stephen, and was very devoted to her children, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. Family gatherings were very special to her and her love for her family was endless.

Julia was predecease­d by her parents; her husband Stephen; her brother Peter Felack and his wife Mary; her sisters, Pauline (husband Michael surviving) Storonsky and Mary Felack; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph and Vivian Gaunay.

Julia is survived by her seven children: Dr. Stephen J. (Linda) Kane, Patricia M. (Paul) Chmielewsk­i, Timothy M. (Suzanne) Kane, Brian P. (Dena) Kane, Joyce K. (Charles F.) Willson, Kevin R. (Laurie) Kane, and Mary Jean (John) Wooley. She also leaves behind 18 cherished grandchild­ren, Matthew (Ulrike) Kane, Matthew (Ulrike) Kane, Caroline (Peter) Laub, Cheryl (Michael) Post, Sara Chmielewsk­i, Nicole J. (Christophe­r) Koopman, Timothy M. (Kathryn) Kane II, Stephen (Lauren) Kane, Kara Kane, Juliann (Nicholas) Madara, Charles J. (Ashley) Willson, Danielle Kane, Jessica Kane, Jennifer (Ray) Bisson, Dr. Brian (Mary) Wooley, Laura (Michael) Pasqua, Dr. Leanne Wooley, Robert (Kayla Foley) Wooley and Erin Wooley. She is also survived by five beloved great-grandchild­ren, Amalie Kane, Juliet Koopman, Jacob and Madison Madara and Annemarie Wooley with two new additions (both boys) due in May 2021. Julia is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.

Special thanks to the staff at The Eddy for the love, kindness and support they gave Julia and our family over these past several days and years.

Julia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately for family only in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Latham with Reverend Geoffrey Burke officiatin­g. Interment will take place next to her husband in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Troy. A public celebratio­n of Julia’s life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham, NY, 12110 in memory of Julia would be appreciate­d.
