SCHOLARSHIPS
Nicholas Degeorgia, Glenville, has earned the inaugural David J. Goyette Vocational Scholarship awarded by the Schenectady Foundation. The $2,500 award aims to assist students in getting a degree in the skilled building trades, or, as in Degeorgia’s case, to teach in the vocational field. An adjunct professor at Hudson Valley Community College , he went back to college to get his teaching degree. Hannah Shell, Burnt Hills, who created Shellstrong at age seven when her brother was diagnosed with cancer, has been selected as a recipient of Northwestern Mutual’s Childhood Cancer Sibling Scholarship. She will receive a $5,000 renewable scholarship to support her in attending college. Due to the pandemic, she has deferred her acceptance to Harvard University and is taking a gap year to work at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
