Borden, Kenneth J.

— Kenneth J. Borden, age 80, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Albany Medical Center, with his beloved wife and daughter by his side.

Ken was a lifelong resident of the Capital Region, but enjoyed spending his winters in Venice, Fla. He was a graduate of both Vincentian Institute and C.B.A., and was employed by Niagara Mohawk, retiring after 35 years of service. Ken was a proud Air Force veteran of 20 years, serving two tours of duty during the Persian Gulf War with the 109th Airlift Wing out of Stratton Air National Guard base in Schenectady. Ken loved traveling and being the captain of his boat, Escargot II, where he and his wife navigated numerous inner coastal trips. Ken also enjoyed reading, dancing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was the loving husband of Agnes Howard Borden; devoted father of Kathleen (Rich) Oliver and Rich (Christine) Dessureau; grandfather of Jes (Tim) Grosman, Rich Dessureau Jr., Eric Oliver, Justin Dessureau and Kacie Oliver; and great-grandfather of Colton and Hunter Grosman. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Charlotte Borden; and his beloved son Kenneth Jr.

The funeral Mass will be in Historic St. Mary’s Church, Lodge Street, Albany on Thursday, January 7, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the church prior to the Mass from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Masks are required, social distancing and occupancy limitation will be observed.
