Nichols, Mildred A.
— Mildred A. "Millie" Nichols, 80 of Schenectady, and formerly of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2021, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.
She was born on September 2, 1940, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Peter Knieze and Amelia Nichols. She was educated in Herkimer and also attended Beauty School as a beautician.
In November of 1965 she was married to the late Peter J. Macri Sr. Until her retirement, Millie was employed at Stewarts Shops in Schenectady, where she held the position of manager.
Millie’s life was centered around the quality time spent with her family. She also enjoyed time gardening. Millie found much relaxation sitting by her fish pond in her yard, watching the squirrels and birds. She had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially her three canine rescues: Tigger, Jenny, and Denver.
Survivors include her two sons, Peter J. Macri Jr. and Silvia Graziadei of Herkimer, and Michael A. Macri and Kimberly (Farron) Macri of Rensselaer; her long-time partner, David Baker of Schenectady; her grandchildren, Courtney and Daniel Macri; her greatgranddaughter, Kaedence Crane; and her stepgrandchildren, Kristina, Philip and Daniel Grazaidei, Kevin Web and Daniel Booth; her cousins, Imogene Nichols of Campobello, S.C., Corinne (Charles) Mueller of Central Bridge, N.Y.; and her goddaughter, Samantha Giglia of Schenectady; and several other cousins. She was predeceased by her stepfather, George Nichols; and her cousin Glen H. Nichols Sr.
A graveside service will take place in the spring in the Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer at a time and date to be announced.
