Goffin rallies to capture Open crown in France

MONTPELLIE­R, France — Second-seeded David Goffin of Belgium rallied to beat top-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 to win the Open Sud de France on Sunday and clinch his fifth career title.

NFL: Louis Nix, a former Giants defensive lineman and star at Notre Dame, was found dead Saturday at age 29 after he was reported missing on Wednesday. A car which matched the descriptio­n of a vehicle Nix was last seen driving, was pulled out of a pond near where he lived. No official cause of death has been released.

College football: Clemson starting cornerback Derion Kendrick is no longer part of the Tigers’ program. Although details were not provided, the first-team all-acc selection had several discipline issues last season and did not play in three games. He had 20 tackles and led the team with six pass breakups.

Olympics: A growing number of countries have said they will push their Olympians to the front of their vaccinatio­n lines ahead of this summer’s Tokyo Olympics, even though athletes are not required to receive the vaccine prior to competing. The U.S. is not one of them. “Athletes in the U.S. agree that they should wait their proper place in line,” said Bree Schaaf, a former Olympian who is now chair of the Team USA Athletes’ Advisory Council.
