Pulliam sets milestone

Player scores 25 to get BKW record

Zeke Pulliam scored 25 points to become the alltime leading scorer at Berne-knox-westerlo on Thursday, and the Bulldogs topped Duanesburg 63-38 in a boys’ basketball game in Duanesburg.

Pulliam needed 17 points to break the record and did so late in the third quarter on a drive to the rim from the top of the key. Zach Brink added 15 points in the win.

More boys’ basketball: Elijah Johnsen sank five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points to spark Schenectad­y to a 71-37 win over Burnt Hills. Damari Holder added 11 points for the Patriots. .. Josh Pigliavent­o knocked down three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and scored 11 of his 17 points down the stretch as Bishop Gibbons pulled away late for a 69-58 home win over Catholic Central. Nick Riley scored 22 for the Crusaders . ... Voorheesvi­lle jumped out to a big lead early and held on for a 57-48 win over Schalmont. Zaveon Little and Tanner Tedesco combined for 31 points for the Blackbirds. Tedesco sank two 3-pointers to stake Voorheesvi­lle to an early 16-6 lead. Rodney Parker scored 20 points for the Sabres.

Girls’ basketball: After a wild first half marked by big runs from both teams, Schoharie settled down to beat Middleburg­h 58-55. Hallie Gasner scored 14 of her 26 points in the first quarter to give Middleburg­h an 18-6 lead after eight minutes. Schoharie responded with a 21-7 run in the second quarter. Alyssa Vangasbeck and Julie Lehoe each scored six points to spark the run. Vangasbeck finished with 12 points . ... Abby Dolge had 15 points, nine assists and one block as Ichabod Crane pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 59-42 win over Albany Academy. The Bears cut a double-digit deficit to five points by the end of the third quarter, but the Riders closed the game on a 19-7 run. Dolge had 10 points in the fourth quarter . ... Ravena thumped Watervliet 81-33 behind a strong effort from sophomore Hannah Vanderzee, who scored 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Vanderzee contribute­d 18 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists in the first quarter alone.
