The Capital Region Chamber will honor six Capital Region women who have distinguished themselves in their careers and in service to the community during its 30th annual Women of Excellence awards program on May 21.
The hybrid event will be livestreamed and, except for sponsors and recipients, attendees will be able to celebrate with the recipients virtually.
The Women’s Business Council of the chamber announced the following honorees: distinguished career: Dr. Joanne Porter, Albany Medical Center; excellence in the professions: Theresa M. Skaine, of counsel, Pierro, Connor & Strauss, LLC; excellence in management: Shaloni Winston, The Arc Lexington; excellence in business development: Elizabeth Smithboivin, Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York; excellence in business: Drue Sanders, Drue Sanders Custom Jewelers; and emerging professional: Coumba Ndoye, Globalfoundries.
“This year we had an astounding number of applicants - all of whom were amazing,” said Emily Light, chair of the Women’s Business Council. “It was not an easy decision for the selection committee, but this year’s winners rose to the top. They truly personify excellence and are an inspiration to everyone around them.”
“This year’s Women of Excellence Award honorees excel in their work and demonstrate a strong commitment to their families and community service,” said Mark Eagan, chamber president and CEO. “They are leading the way in their respective fields and we are proud to honor them as Women of Excellence.”
