Shen advances to boys’ hockey title showdown

Miazga scores pair, Coons has 32 saves to set up finale vs. Adirondack

Captain Justin Miazga scored two goals and Leo Coons made 32 stops to lead Shenendeho­wa to a 4-1 win over Saratoga on Friday in the semifinals of the Capital District High School Hockey League playoffs.

Anthony Sassone added a goal and an assist and Justin Mayo chipped in with a goal for the Plainsmen.

Shenendeho­wa will face Adirondack in the final at 7 p.m. Saturday at Clifton Park Arena.

More hockey: Adirondack advanced to the final by crushing Burnt Hills 7-1 in the semifinals. Willis Bickford and Tyler Carruthers each scored two goals for Adirondack. Andy Buser and Benjamin Di Fiore combined for 29 saves in the win.

Boys’ basketball: In a game that went back and forth from the start, Isaiah Maines scored 20 points and Kasey Moore added 10 as Hudson edged Catskill 51-49. Logan Scott led Catskill with 21 points. The Bluehawks jumped out to a 16-6 lead, but saw it evaporate when the Cats responded with an 18-8 run in the second quarter. Maines scored seven in the third to give Hudson a 41-34 lead through three quarters . ... T.J. Kelley scored a career-high 37 points to help Waterford roll to a 72-52 win over host Galway. The Fordians jumped out to a 20-4 lead after one quarter and coasted to the 20-point victory. ... Hagen Foley sank four 3pointers and finished with 16 points as CBA topped Colonie 51-42 . ... Josh Kiefer was 15for-18 from the foul line and finished with a game-high 29 points to spark Coxsackiea­thens to a 66-61 win over Greenville.

Girls’ basketball:

Gabby Mcfarren scored 26 points and Karlee Nims added 23 to lead Hartford to a 60-59 win over Argyle in a battle of Route 40 rivals. Mcfarren scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to help the Tanagers close out the win. Madison Gillis scored 14 for the Lady Scots . ... Leah Phillips scored 19 points and Sophie Bissaillon sank two critical 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to propel Troy to a 52-48 home win over Columbia.

Nikola Jokic had 28 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists and scored Denver’s final five points to help the Nuggets hold off the Memphis Grizzlies 103-102 on Friday night.

Memphis had a chance to take the lead with about three seconds remaining when guard Ja Morant went to the rim against Jokic but came up short against the Denver center. The Nuggets then ran out the clock for their fifth straight victory.

Will Barton and Michael Porter Jr. had 21 points each for Denver. Jamal Murray was held to a season-low three points, missing 13 of 14 shots.

Brandon Clarke and Dillon Brooks led Memphis with 20 points each.

76ers 127, Wizards 101: Joel Embiid scored 23 points but departed midway through the third quarter following an apparent leg injury in Philadelph­ia’s victory over Washington.

Pelicans 116, Cavaliers 82:

Brandon Ingram scored 28 points, Zion Williamson added 23 and New Orleans bounced back from a lopsided loss.

Spurs 104, Magic 77: Rudy Gay had 19 points, Dejounte Murray and Derrick White each added 17 and San Antonio overcame a sluggish start to beat short-handed Orlando. Notes: Lakers forward Anthony Davis will be out for at least two more weeks with the leg injuries that have kept him sidelined since Feb. 14.
