Queensbury wins opener
Parker, Keshmiri score in 2-0 win over Schuylerville
Cara Parker scored in the opening minutes, Julia Keshmiri added a goal in the second half, and the Queensbury girls’ soccer team started its season with a 2-0 victory over Schuylerville on Wednesday.
Parker, a senior for the Spartans, scored at the four-minute mark in the first half. Keshmiri’s goal came in the 67th minute.
Bayley Duffy assisted in both goals for Queensbury, which moved to 1-0 in the Foothills Council with the win.
Emma Lemery stopped five shots to earn the clean sheet for the Spartans, while Claire Pelletier-hoblock made three saves for the Black Horses.

Scotia-glenville got off to a fast start with a 7-0 victory over Johnstown. Brooklyn Drago finished with a goal and four assists for the Tartans. Hope Buboltz stopped 15 shots for Johnstown.
Girls’ volleyball: Natalie Blackstone had seven kills and six aces, Amanda O’connor had 11 assists and three aces, and Mohonasen stopped Rotterdam rival Schalmont, 25-13, 25-21 and 25-19 in a Colonial Council clash. Mya Cordy had 13 digs to lead the Sabres, while Alexa Knapik had eight assists and four aces.
Boys’ volleyball: Nate Krackeler
had 12 assists and an ace to lead Saratoga Springs over visiting CBA in a Suburban Council matchup, 25-12, 25-12 and 25-15. Chase Corbett added five kills and four aces for the Blue Streaks.
Note: Mechanicville’s Devin Garland was named Saratoga County League MVP for the COVID-19 shortened boys’ basketball season on Wednesday. Other first-team All-stars included Waterford’s T.J. Kelley, Luci D’ambro of Mechanicville, South Glens Falls’ Cam Woodard, Stillwater’s Isaac Cutler and Saratoga Central Catholic’s Hayden Day.
