-

ALBANY — Caroline Bullis (Gnat), 77, was born on July 10, 1943, and passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Born in Albany, Carol was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Gnat (Gaul). She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Joseph J. Bullis Sr.

Carol graduated from Albany High School and worked for the Telephone Company for a short time before she married the love of her life on September 5, 1964. Carol then became a wife, mother, and homemaker and spent many happy summers at Caroga Lake. In 1976 she rejoined the workforce and started her career in waitressing at the Ground Round on State Street in Schenectady. Waitressing allowed her to do the thing she loved, take care of people, and make money doing it! She thought it was great, and she was good at it! She also waitressed for a short time at the original Garcia’s Restaurant on Central Avenue in Colonie. Later in life, when her body could no longer take being a waitress, she was presented with an opportunity to take care of a baby. She knew she couldn’t be a waitress anymore and this was the next best thing, if not better for her, she loved babies even more. One baby turned into three, and she spent her last working years helping take care of those children and she loved that too!

Carol is survived by her sons, Joseph J. Bullis Jr. and Brian Bullis; her daughter Tammy Dominy (Bullis) and her husband Rich Dominy Jr.; her grandchildren, Shelby, Sarah, and Austin; surrogate grandchildren, Schuyler, Evan, and Hannah Hennesey; and greatgrandchildren, Kyera, Valeri, and Korey. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Gnat La Mont, Sandi Gnat Snyder (Dave), Tracie Gnat Misner (Dean), and Jodi Gnat; brothers-inlaw, Michael Bullis (Evelyn), and Rocco Peters; sisters-in-law, Renee and Vicki Bullis; as well as her lifelong friends, Betty Heidelmark and Joanie Kruzinski and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen Gnat, and stepbrother Kenneth Kovarnik; her sister Constance Peters; her brothers-in-law, John, Charles Jr., and James Bullis, Donald La Mont, and sister-in-law Patricia Bullis. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date.
