Add leading scorer C.J. Kelly's name to the list of University at Albany men's basketball players who are in the NCAA transfer portal.

Kelly, a 6-foot-5 redshirt junior guard, has entered the portal as a graduate transfer, verbalcommits.com reported Monday. He would be eligible to play somewhere else immediately and have two years of eligibility.

Eight Great Danes, including this season's entire starting five, have entered the portal since coach Will Brown departed the program at the conclusion of the season: Jarvis Doles, Jamel Horton, Kellon Taylor, Antonio Rizzuto, Cameron Healy, Trey Hutcheson and walk-on Will Kondrat.

Kelly, Doles, Horton, Taylor and Rizzuto were starters at the end of the season. Sixth-man Chuck Champion has said he plans to stay.

New coach Dwayne Killings has said all players who entered the portal are welcome to return, though he has made scholarship offers to three new recruits.

Kelly averaged 14.3 points per game in his only season with the Great Danes after transferring from Norfolk State.

America East suspends three lacrosse players

The University at Albany men’s lacrosse team will be without attack Tehoka Nanticoke, defenseman Elijah Gash and midfielder Steve Ramirez for the match against 13th-ranked Massachusetts at John Fallon Field on Tuesday.

On Monday, the America East Conference suspended all three for one match for their roles in an altercation during the 19-7 victory at Binghamton on Saturday. A fight broke out between the teams in the bench area with 8:33 remaining.

“I am still processing what happens so at this point I have no comment,” Ualbany head coach Scott Marr texted.

Nanticoke scored six goals against Binghamton, including the 100th of his career. Gash starts on defense for the Great Danes.

The America East also suspended Binghamton’s Nicholas Imburgia for two games and teammates Patrick Murad, Jarrett Piccione, Kyle Tiernan and Max Verch for one game each.

The America East said it conducted a thorough review of the incident, including an examination of available video and officiating reports along with discussions with the league’s coordinator of officials and administrators from both institutions.

The America East said Ualbany and Binghamton’s programs have been issued a public reprimand for their conduct, which is in violation of America East’s bylaws and policies on sporting conduct.

All parties are hereby put on notice that any future unsporting conduct will shall be subject to additional disciplinary measures, the league said.
