Guilderland’s Sischo is first-team All-american
Guilderland High graduate Andrew Sischo, a senior center for Daemen College, was selected Tuesday as a first-team All-american by both the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and the National Association of Basketball Coaches for the second straight year.
Sischo, who ranks fourth nationally in scoring (26.7) and third in rebounding (12.8), led Daemen to the Albany regional championship in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The eighth-seeded Wildcats face top-seeded West Texas A&M in a national quarterfinal at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday in Evansville, Ind.

Tennis: Venus Williams was eliminated on the first day of the Miami Open by 89th-ranked Zarina Diyas, 6-2, 7-6 (10) . ... Benoit Paire suggested that he prefers losing to winning amid the pandemic.
