Guilderlan­d’s Sischo is first-team All-american

Guilderlan­d High graduate Andrew Sischo, a senior center for Daemen College, was selected Tuesday as a first-team All-american by both the Division II Conference Commission­ers Associatio­n and the National Associatio­n of Basketball Coaches for the second straight year.

Sischo, who ranks fourth nationally in scoring (26.7) and third in rebounding (12.8), led Daemen to the Albany regional championsh­ip in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The eighth-seeded Wildcats face top-seeded West Texas A&M in a national quarterfin­al at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday in Evansville, Ind.

Horse racing: Fans will return to the Preakness Stakes on May 15 at Pimlico Race Course with attendance limited to 10,000.
