Stewart leads Broadalbin-perth

2 second-half goals lift Patriots over Lady Bills

Maria Stewart scored two secondhalf goals to give Broadalbin-perth a 2-0 victory over visiting Johnstown on Wednesday in a Foothills Council girls’ soccer clash.

Brooke Bush and Alayna Preston both chipped in with an assist each to help the Patriots to 2-0 on the young season.

Hope Buboltz made 13 saves for Johnstown, which dipped to 1-2 for the season.

More girls’ soccer: Rylee O’connor scored three goals to help Scotia cruise past Amsterdam, 7-0, in another Foothills Council game. Sage Luke and Brooklyn Drago each added a goal and two assists for the Tartans, who led 2-0 at halftime before erupting with five goals in the second half to put the game away.

Girls’ volleyball: Burnt Hills coasted to a 3-0 win over Suburban foe Schenectad­y. The Lady Spartans won by scores of 25-13, 25-10 and 25-9. Carlie Rzeszotars­ki had 15 kills and Claire Isaksen added 35 assists and nine kills for Burnt Hills. Gelmajony Marrero had five kills and five digs and Savannah Peterson chipped in with eight digs to lead Schenectad­y . ... Guilderlan­d swept Albany (25-22, 25-14, 25-12) in other Suburban play. Danielle Fedorchak had 13 service points and 12 digs and Lauren Hoyle compiled six kills and eight blocks for the Lady Dutch.

Field hockey: Emma Mccart scored four goals to lift Hoosick Falls over Greenwich, 7-0, in a Wasaren League contest. Mccart had the game’s first four goals to help the Indians move to 1-1 overall. Greenwich fell to 0-2 with the loss.
