— Joseph A. Carbonello, "Little Joe," entered eternal life on Friday, March 19, 2021.

He was born on December 20, 1937, in Albany, and was the son of the late John and Gabriella Spiezio Carbonello. He was a graduate of Cathedral Academy in Albany and retired as a budget analyst from the New York State Office of Mental Retardatio­n where he loyally served for more than 38 years. Prior to his New York State career, he was part owner of Pal Joey Restaurant and Bar on Grand Street in Albany, named after the Frank Sinatra movie, Pal Joey, from 1957. Upon retirement, he volunteere­d at St. Peter’s Hospital Business Office.

Joe was gifted with athleticis­m - he played softball and basketball in high school and his adult years, he bowled, racket ball, hand ball and golf. He was an avid golfer and was a proud member of the Dubber’s League for over 50 years. He had been a communican­t of St. Anthony’s Church, The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, St. Margaret Mary’s and most recently, St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park. He served as an alter boy at St. Anthony’s Church and Cathedral Academy.

He was the beloved husband of Lucy Maynardcar­bonello whom he married in 1981. He was the brother of Catherine (Jim) Blau of Loudonvill­e; brother-in-law of Alfred (Renate) Maynard, and the late Joseph (Bonnie) Maynard; and uncle of Michael Blau (Holly), James Blau (Shawna), Thomas Blau, Steven Maynard (Leah), Stephanie Maynard Waters (Tom), Joseph J. Maynard Jr. (April), Heather Bass, and Jamie Reisinger. He is also survived by many grandniece­s and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
