Cafe con Mel opens in Cohoes
A coffee shop called Cafe con Mel opened March 19 at 133 Remsen St. in Cohoes. It is a sibling of D&L Hospitality Management, a catering company that took over the space in mid-2018 and later the same year began offering open-to-the public buffets and restaurant nights.
The cafe is named after chef Melanie Diaz of D&L, whose partners in the project are Melisa Heeder and Joy Anderson. The menu includes a variety of pastries, breakfast sandwiches available on toast, bagel or mochi waffle, lunch fare and coffee. The bagels are provided by Golden Krust Bagels in Latham; the bakery opened in Cohoes in 1931, relocating after a 2006 fire.
The coffee shop opens at 7 a.m. daily; it closes at 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday (food until 4 p.m.), 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday (food until 5 p.m.) and 4 p.m. Sunday. Call 518-235-3300.
D&L Hospitality Management will operate its catering business out of Cafe con Mel’s kitchen until it moves to a larger location in Cohoes later this year, according to its Facebook page.
