Red Raiders’ win streak dates back to 2016 season

Mechanicvi­lle extended its Wasaren League boys’ soccer unbeaten streak to 45 games following an 11-0 victory over host Saratoga Catholic on Tuesday.

Andrew Kraszewski led the Red Raiders offense with three goals and five assists to keep the streak, which dates back to the 2016 season, rolling. Mechanicvi­lle improved to 4-0 on the year and still has not allowed a goal by any opponent they have faced this season.

More boys’ soccer: Braden Boudreau scored four goals as Galway rolled past visiting Mekeel Christian, 4-0, in a Western Athletic Conference game. Boudreau scored three first-half goals and then added his fourth at the 54-minute mark of the second half to lead the Eagles to the victory.

Girls’ soccer: Hannah Biscossi scored two goals to help host Mekeel Christian to a 3-1 win over Galway in a Western Athletic Conference contest. Siobhan Farrell scored the other Lions goal while Alaina Aschmutat had the lone Galway goal.

Boys’ cross country: Gitch Hayes finished two minutes ahead of his nearest competitor to lift La Salle past Cobleskill in a Colonial Council meet. Hayes finished the 2.4 mile course at Cobleskill with a time of 14 minutes, 40 seconds. Teammate Gianni Gabriel was second, crossing the finish line at 16:40. The Cadets won the meet with 15 points while Cobleskill finished with an incomplete.

Girls’ volleyball: Shenendeho­wa swept Colonie in a Suburban Council match. The Lady Plainsmen won by scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-18 to improve to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in league play. Kasia Barletta had nine service points and 31 digs, and Erika Macken added 20 assists and four blocks to lead the Lady Plainsmen.
