SELKIRK — Wilma E. French Currey, 94, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2021, with her loving family by her side. Wilma was born in Lawrencevi­lle, Ill., the daughter of the late Hillis and Gladys French. Wilma met the love of her life, Francis S. Currey, in 1947 and married on January 15, 1949. She moved to Selkirk, raised a family and would later spend her winters in their Bonneau, S.C. home. Wilma enjoyed the summers at Camp Woodstock walking around the lake, playing cards, watching the grandchild­ren fish, reading and watching the Golden Girls. They enjoyed doing everything together, but her proudest moments were celebratin­g their 70th wedding anniversar­y in 2019 and being with her family. She enjoyed many world travels with her husband, as he was a Medal of Honor recipient. Wilma more recently loved the many visits from her great-grandchild­ren. You could see her face light up when they would come visit.

Wilma is survived by her children, Michael (Anne) Currey, Kathryn (Thomas) Domery Jr., and Jonathan (Lorri Ducharme) Currey; grandchild­ren, Jessica (Michael) Moran, Kyleen (Scott) Dambrosio, Diane (Jesse) Lammers, James (Tammy) Currey, Christophe­r (Juli) Currey, Kevin Currey, and Travis Currey; 13 greatgrand­children, and many nieces and nephews. Wilma was predecease­d by her beloved husband Francis S. Currey; and five siblings.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in South Bethlehem. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
