Schiliro, Bonaventur­a Concetta

ALBANY — Concetta Bonaventur­a Schiliro, a devoted wife and mother, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the age of 98, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Bronte, Italy to the late Giosue Schiliro and Margherita Schiliro (nee Rivace). After her father died at a young age, she was raised, together with her four siblings, by an aunt who was a renowned baker and where under her tutelage, she learned to bake a variety of scrumptiou­s desserts and breads that were enjoyed by family and friends.

She was also a talented seamstress with a fine artistic flair that she applied to her many projects and creations especially when she was sewing for her three daughters.

She was happiest at family gatherings with her children, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

In addition to her parents, Concetta was predecease­d by her husband Gino Bonaventur­a in 2004; and her youngest daughter Anna Maria Bonaventur­a in 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Tina Verrelli (Lino) of Slingerlan­ds and Margaret Bonaventur­asparagna (Peter Sparagna) of Hadley. She was the much loved "Nonna" of David, Adriana and Leeana Verrelli and Joshua Bonaventur­a Sparagna (Stacy Cloutier). She will also be missed by her great-grandchild­ren, Vincent and Leo Verrelli, Nicholas and Alexander Teta and Madelyn Sparagna. She is also survived by her sister and numerous nieces and nephews in Italy.

Services at this time will be private and a memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

Clyde’s most beloved hobby was hunting, and fixing guns. His hunting buddy’s and brothers will sure miss him in November. He enjoyed helping his family and friends whenever they needed excavation work to be done.

Clyde graduated from Berne-know-westerlo high school, and in 1992 went to Finger Lakes College for Taxidermy then went on to Hudson Valley Community College for occupation­al studies.

He later worked for Bonded Concrete, then Hertz Rental and United Rental.

He is survived by his loving children, Clyde Sisson IV, Marissa Sisson, Austin Sisson and Laura Sisson; his loving mother, Christine Hayes-sisson; brothers, Kevin, his fiancee, Amanda Terhune; Mitchell Sisson, his wife Katie; sister, April Sisson; beloved nephews, Jody, Hunter, Jase, Jordan; beloved nieces, Olivia, Skylar, Amber, Claudia, Courtney, Gracie, Gabriella. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is predecease­d by his father, Clyde Sisson Jr.; and his brother, Spencer Sisson; grandparen­ts, Clyde Sr. and Kathryn Sisson of Berne and Harry and Anna Hayes of Knox.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 16 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in South Berne Cemetery.
