Rzeszotarski gets 1,000th kill vs. Troy
Burnt Hills star Carlie Rzeszotarski had 11 kills to become the third player in school history to reach 1,000 kills and the Spartans came away with a 25-14, 25-12, 25-12 win over Troy in Suburban Council volleyball action.
Rzeszotarski reached a mark only attained by Erin Little (2004-07) and Sarah Morton (200205). Morton is the all-time school-leader in kills with 1,359.
Rzeszotarski is the first player in school history to surpass 1,000 kills as a junior.
Claire Isakzen added 28 assists and five aces for the Spartans (12-0, 10-0).
More girls’ volleyball: Briana Hardwick had 18 assists and Peyton Strand added nine kills and five blocks to rally Shaker to a 19-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-23 win over Schenectady . ... In other Suburban Council action, Miranda King and Alli Silliman combined for 21 kills to lead Columbia to a 25-17, 22-25, 25-12, 25-14 win over Saratoga. The Blue Devils improve to 5-3.
Boys’ soccer: Aidan Lawson scored two goals, including the go-ahead marker with 25 minutes left to propel Voorheesville to a 3-1 win over Schalmont. Sean Bruno added an insurance goal for the Blackbirds . ... Berlin-new Lebanon topped Hoosick Falls 3-2 behind Kasey Billert, who scored two goals, including the game-winner with two minutes left on a hard shot from the 18.
Girls’ soccer: Matti Swann scored three goals and Matti Muller and Courtney Bush added two apiece as Mohonasen drubbed Lansingburgh 9-0 in Colonial Council action.
Boys’ volleyball: Columbia beat CBA in straight sets, 25-11, 25-19, 25-16, behind Carter Albano, who had 11 kills and nine digs. Justin Sapienza had 14 digs for Columbia. Ayden Harrison had six kills and four blocks for CBA.
