A new brewery and taproom called Mixed Breed Brewing opens this weekend at 457 Route 146 in Guilderland Center, at the Park Guilderland Plaza.

The Saturday grand-opening event sold out all tickets for each of its three time slots weeks ago, but Mixed Breed beers will still be available in cans for takeout customers. Regular hours, starting Sunday, are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; hours may expand to include Wednesdays if warranted by demand.

Opening weekend will feature six Mixed Breed beers on draft. The taproom is licensed to also carry New York-made cider and spirits, and management said they plan to add additional house beers and outside beverages in the coming weeks. Food will always be available, usually from an on-site food truck and also from a deli in the same shopping plaza. Management hopes to make delivery arrangements with nearby restaurants as well.

Mixed Breed’s Facebook page is facebook.com/mixedbreedbrewing. A public phone number has yet to be established.

Backyard BBQ, Rollin’ Smoke Handcrafted BBQ and Wagon Train BBQ, with pickup locations in Clifton Park, Guilderland (though the website says Albany), Mechanicville, Rotterdam and Troy. All will offer quarter-chicken dinners with sides for $12 or a full rack of ribs for $50 (limited availability). Details and ordering are at givebutter.com/smokeout. Advance purchase required.

Also in the local LLS campaign this year is Bob Belber, general manager of the Times Union Center in Albany. He has three fundraising efforts scheduled as part of his Rock to Raise efforts: a virtual concert featuring the Brown Liquor Social Club (all former members of the popular band The Burners UK) on Thursday ($50 per household for access to a Zoom livestream), a virtual performance by a “national comedian” (name TBA) on April 29 and an in-person event, scheduled for May 15 at Albany Capital Center in Albany and priced at $50 per person, that will feature a beer garden, food, fun, games, live music and competitions in basketball free throws, table tennis and darts. Dave's Burgers back again

The indefatigable Dave Khan, who made a name for himself selling exoticmeat burgers in Albany, Colonie and Rotterdam over the past 12 years, is back again. He reopened earlier this week in his fourth location at 16 Edison Ave., Schenectady, previously home to Mike’s Neba and, before that, Vic’s Lunch.

Fare at Dave’s Gourmet Burgers and More includes beef burgers, burgers with an equal split of beef with bacon or sausage, and burgers of wild boar ($16.99); alligator, antelope, camel, elk and kangaroo (all $25); and ostrich ($30) and python ($35). The menu also offers a smattering of Greek and Indian dishes and some weirdness like a “mozzarella cheese stick burger,” a beef burger stacked with cheese, fried egg and hot dog, and a beef burger described thus: “The perfect meat and cheeses are melted in the steamer and then grilled to perfection.”

Hours are listed as 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Monday to Saturday, until 6 p.m. Sunday. Dine-in tables available, or call 518-2803900 for pickup. Delivery is available via Doordash.

Khan’s first restaurant, in 2009, was Burger Centric, on Delaware Avenue in Albany. He drew controversy and international condemnation by offering lion burgers after moving to Fuller Road in Colonie — they quickly were removed from the menu — and relocated again, to

Broadway in Rotterdam, in late 2016. He also owns the East to West Spice Co., which offers 10 products including turmeric, smoked paprika, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder and Khan’s own proprietary blend called Ultimate Spice.
