Schoharie rolls past Canajohari­e

Krohn has five goals, Drinon scores three

Katie Krohn scored five goals and had an assist to help Schoharie coast past Canajohari­e, 9-1, on Wednesday in a Western Athletic Conference girls’ soccer contest at Schoharie.

Haley Drinon chipped in with three goals and an assist for Schoharie, which claimed its 10th win of the season against three losses.

Caitlyn Baker scored the lone Canajohari­e goal.

More girls’ soccer: Eva Sterthous had two goals and three assists to lead Emma Willard to a 7-0 win over visiting Berlin/new Lebanon in a Wasaren League game. Katie Everett, Grace Pierson and Bailey Leone-levine each had a goal and an assist for the Jaspers.

Field hockey: Chelsea King had a goal and an assist in the decisive third quarter as Guilderlan­d pulled away in the second half for a 3-0 Suburban Council win over Niskayuna. After a scoreless first half, Skylar Vanwormer scored the first Lady Dutch goal on a feed from King in the third quarter. King extended the lead with an unassisted goal later in the period . ... Molly Miller scored in the second quarter and Lauren Shanahan added an insurance goal in the fourth quarter to spark Shenendeho­wa to a 2-0 Suburban win at Shaker. Both goals came on penalty corners. Brianna Anslow made six saves to earn the shutout.

Girls’ tennis: Niskayuna climbed to 10-3 on the season with a 6-3 win over rival Schenectad­y in a Suburban Council match. Olivia Dartawan, Jeevika Benki, Xuning Ying and Millee Modasra provided the singles wins, and the teams of Katherine Makin and Safiya Petrushenk­a along with Christine Amirbekian and Sana Seth had the doubles victories for the Silver Warriors.

Girls’ swimming and diving: Niskayuna improved to 4-1 by beating Guildervil­le 107-77. Abby Lyons led the Silver Warriors with two individual wins (50-yard freestyle, 100 backstroke) and also swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay.
