Flyers top Bruins behind Atkinson’s two goals
PHILADELPHIA — Cam Atkinson scored two goals, including the go-ahead score that sent him tumbling into the boards, in the Philadelphia Flyers’ 6-3 victory over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.

Tennis: In her first match since reaching the U.S. Open semifinals and subsequently testing positive for COVID-19, Aryna Sabalenka beat Ajla Tomljanovic 7-6 (2), 4-6, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals of the Kremlin Cup. Garbine Muguruza beat Tereza Martincova 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. In the men’s competition, Marin Cilic ,a two-time champion at the Kremlin Cup, made it to the quarterfinals by beating Taylor Paul 7-5, 6-3.
Soccer: Cristiano Ronaldo’s late winning goal capped a classic Manchester United 3-2 comeback win over Atalanta. In a less chaotic manner, Bayern Munich and Juventus also recorded wins to top their groups with three straight victories and no goals conceded.
Boxing: Dillian Whyte has pulled out of his Oct. 30 heavyweight fight against Otto Wallin because of a shoulder injury. Whyte was defending his WBC interim title.
Basketball: Jim Boylen has been picked to coach USA Basketball next month in qualifying for the 2023 Basketball World Cup.
