’Cats rally into semis

Fletcher’s goal, assist lift Maple Hill in girls’ sectional Class C soccer

Maple Hill rallied for two second-half goals to pull away from visiting Hoosick Falls and win 3-1 on Tuesday in its Section II Class C girls’ soccer quarterfin­al contest in Stillwater.

Alayna Fletcher scored a goal and had an assist to lead the Wildcats, who improved to 16-1-1 overall with the victory. Becka Hall and Eva Hirschoff had the other Maple Hill goals.

Megan Perry scored the lone goal for Hoosick Falls.

More girls’ soccer: Second-seeded Northville advanced to the Class D semifinal round with a convincing 7-0 victory over North Warren. Sophia Reidell scored a goal and added four assists for the Falcons, who will take on Oppenheim-ephratah/st. Johnsville at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the semifinal round at Gloversvil­le . ... Katie Krohn scored five goals and had two assists to lead Schoharie to a 9-1 win against Stillwater in a Class C quarterfin­al matchup. Haley Drinon chipped in with two goals and an assist for Schoharie.

Girls’ cross country: Berlin claimed the Wasaren League championsh­ip at Grafton Lake State Park. The Mountainee­rs team finished with 35 points, ahead of second place Hoosic Valley (78) and third place Greenwich (84). Sophia Squires of Hoosic Valley won the race with a time of 16 minutes, 56.22 seconds. Allura Meizinger of Berlin was second with a time of 17:02.44.

Boys’ cross country: Stillwater edged Hoosic Valley on the boys’ side of the Wasaren championsh­ip. Stillwater had 33 points and Hoosic Valley finished closely behind with 39 points in second. Berlin rounded out the top three with 55 points. Stillwater’s Anthony Zazzaro had the top individual time of 14:44.90.
