GUILDERLAN­D — Joanne Bernice Houser, age 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Albany on September 16, 1952. Joanne is the daughter of Alice (Peplowski) and the late George Houser.

Joanne graduated from Guilderlan­d High School in 1970. She attended Duchess Community College in Poughkeeps­ie where she received an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. After college, Joanne worked for Head Start as a Pre-k teacher. She then became a Home Visitor for the program. In 1988, Joanne went to work as Principal Account Clerk for the NYS Department of Correction­al Services, Finance Office. She retired in 2015 to care for her parents.

Joanne was an active member of the Polish American Citizens Club. She enjoyed volunteeri­ng as the person who scheduled weddings, picnics, retirement parties and more.

“The most truly generous persons are those who give silently without hope of praises or reward.”- Carol Ryrie Brink. This encompasse­s the person Joanne was. She loved giving gifts and making people smile. Joanne will be remembered for her kind, generous and loving heart.

Joanne is survived by her mother Alice; brother Michael Houser (Lisa), Ligonier, Pa.; sister Cindy Houser, Albany, sister and friend, Judith Horton (Joe); niece Amber (Adriel) Ginsburg, Ligonier, Pa.; nephews, Cody Houser (Ceci), Pittsburgh, Pa., Blake Horton, (Giulianna), Philadelph­ia, Pa.; great-nephew, Riley Ginsburg; great-niece, Amelia Houser; uncle Edward Peplowski who she had a special bond with; cousin Suzanne Peplowski who held her hand in her final days; also several aunts, uncles and many cousins.

The family would like to thank Breyanna and Diamond her aides who cared for her with love and compassion. They would like to offer their sincere gratitude to Dr. Gilday, Veronica and Dr. Choma of Albany Gastrology for their amazing care to Joanne. Thank you to Albany Community Hospice in guiding us through her final journey.

A celebratio­n of Joanne’s life will be held at a later date.
