Marion R. Stanley, 98, died Sunday, October 31, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Albany, she was daughter of the late Alexander Gilchrist and Olga Harrison Gilchrist and wife of the late Henry (Hank) Stanley, Jr. She was raised in Albany and resided in Poestenkil­l for most of her life. She attended Philip Livingston High School.

Marion retired in 1996 from New York State Workers’ Compensati­on after nearly 20 years as a Senior Accounts Clerk (Supplement­al Benefits Unit). Early in her career, Marion was a hairdresse­r and owned her own beauty shop and later owned her own bridal shop. She also owned and operated the IGA Foodliner in Nassau, with her husband.

Marion loved her dogs, cats, and the family’s horses and supported Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and Steve Caporizzo’s Pet Connection. She enjoyed her quilting club with her friends, taking drives with her dog Mandy, talking with her granddaugh­ter about her favorite singers, bands, and figure skaters, and traveling, especially her recent trips with her daughter and granddaugh­ter to Savannah, Georgia and Laval, Quebec, Canada (she got her first passport in 2018!), the Adirondack and Vermont mountains, and beach hopping up the East Coast. She loved her friends, family and her house on the farm. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, bright and vibrant personalit­y, and loving heart.

Survivors include her daughter, Victoria A. Lachaga; son-in-law; Philip Lachaga; her granddaugh­ter, Kristina Lachaga; her niece, Carol A. Barber and extended family. She was predecease­d by her son, Henry (Hank) A. Stanley; and her brother, William Gilchrist.

Relatives and friends may call at the Degraaf-bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 4392 NY 150, West Sand Lake on Saturday, November 6, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Face covering and so
