Ryder, Lenore Johnson
GUILDERLAND
— Lenore Johnson Ryder "Leni," age 89 of Guilderland, died peacefully at her daughter’s home on October 1, 2021, after a brief illness with cancer.
Born in 1932, the daughter of Rose and Roy Johnson. Leni was raised in Fayetteville, N.Y. and graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1950. Leni married her husband, Bill Ryder, in 1952, and spent the majority of her life in Jamesville, N.Y. They lived in Newfoundland, Canada for a short time then returned to the Syracuse area. Leni and Bill raised their family and were married for 69 years. Together they enjoyed traveling to visit family and day trips to Skaneateles Lake.
Leni became a stay-athome mom during her children’s formative years. She felt so fortunate that she was able to do this and considered it her most enjoyable and rewarding job. She enjoyed the company of others, playing board games, reading, and gardening. Her flowers beautified every corner of the yard from year to year, and her healthy, abundant cooking pleased and delighted all. Leni was spirit-filled always, and forever close to "Our Lord" embodying the Christian life. Faith, family, and friends were her top priorities. She knew how to love deeply, and everyone felt it. Leni was a wealth of information and will be remembered for her kind and gentle ways.
Leni is survived by her loving husband Bill; brother-inlaw, Gary Ryder; children, Robert Ryder (Jodi Halbig), Karen Gerety (Gregg), Lisa Ryder (Patrick Moore), Bill Ryder (Stephanie), Alan Ryder (Bridget), Nancy Verrette (Dennis), and Laura Kania (Chris); 16 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by beloved son, Daniel Ryder; grandson, Sam Ryder; and sisters Alice, Arlene, Rose Elaine and Mary Jane.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, at Eatonday, November 6, at Eatontubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A memorial service will follow from 3-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Leni by being kind and gentle to those around you.
