Rudd the Sexiest Man Alive

-

Paul Rudd seems to have been a little “Clueless” about just how attractive he really is.

The “Ant-man” star was named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2021, an honor he hopes will finally get him invited to “those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B Jordan.”

“I figure I’ll be on a lot more yachts. I’m excited to expand my yachting life,” the 52-year-old New Jersey native told the magazine.

“And I’ll probably try to get better at brooding in really soft light. I like to ponder. I think this is going to help me become more inward and mysterious. And I’m looking forward to that.”

Before he was allowed to capture the title, Rudd was put through a series of tests on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Tuesday night, from a Westminster Dog Showstyle competition to photo shoots as a construction worker and a monk.

“There’s nothing sexier than humility … and you passed!” Colbert announced. “Paul, you’re the sexiest man alive.”

A seemingly shocked Rudd accepted the honor, along with flowers.

“I’m going to lean into it hard. I’m going to own this,” Rudd told People. “I’m not going to try to be like ‘Oh, I’m so modest.’ I’m getting business cards made. But all of my friends will destroy me and I expect them to. And that’s why they’re my friends.”

The Sexiest Man Alive can be seen Friday in Apple TV+’S “The Shrink Next Door,” reuniting with co-star Will Ferrell to play an overzealous therapist, and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” later this month.

Horses find greener pastures at Channel 13

Reporters at the Newschannel 13 studios in Menands got quite a surprise when they found horses outside their station at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The horses belonged to wranglers from Colorado who were traveling across the country for a show. The station posted a video of the horses munching grass on Instagram.

They decided to take a stop at the home of the owner’s grandmother, and put the horses in the backyard. Although they initially tried to block off the area, the horses got through and wandered to the station at 715 N. Pearl St., an industrial stretch near the Albany city line.

The horses’ names are Sammie and Gypsie, according to Darcy Bonfils, assistant news director at Newschannel 13.

Crystal plans familiar return to Broadway

Billy Crystal is not ready to say goodbye to “Mr. Saturday Night.”

The comic icon has turned his comedy film into a Broadway-bound musical and hopes to open it next year with him reprising his film role as Buddy Young Jr., a bitter, old insult comic chasing a last laugh.

“There’s something about this guy and that world that I love,” Crystal said. “I think that we’ve brought this story and this character to a better place than I could have imagined even.”

Crystal has written the stage adaptation with his film’s co-writers — Lowell Ganz and Marc “Babaloo” Mandel — and married it to music by Jason Robert Brown and lyrics by Amanda Green. John Rando will direct.

“What the music has done to elevate the story and to propel the story and bring out dynamics in the characters is quite amazing to me,” Crystal says. “It’s something I couldn’t be more excited about, honestly.”

He will star opposite Tony Award-winner Randy Graff, Chasten Harmon and David Paymer, who will recreate his Oscar-nominated performance as Buddy’s brother, Stan Yankelman.

Crystal has just ended a developmental run of the show at the Barrington Stage Company in Massachusetts.

Performances begin on Broadway on March 1, 2022, at the Nederlander Theatre.

This is Crystal’s first return to Broadway following his “700 Sundays,” which he premiered in 2004 and revisited in 2013. Tickets go on sale to the public on Nov. 22. — Associated Press

Brian Williams says he’s leaving NBC News

Brian Williams, who remade his career as an MSNBC host after losing his job as NBC “Nightly News” anchor for making false claims about a wartime story, is leaving the network after 28 years.

Williams said in a note to colleagues that “following much reflection,” he had decided to exit when his contract ends in December.

“This is the end of a chapter and the beginning of another,” Williams wrote. “There are many things I want to do, and I’ll pop up again somewhere.”

Willliams, 62, said he will take a few months off to spend time with his family. — Associated Press
