Whitney Young Health and Equinox have agreed to form an official affiliation. Both organizations entered an agreement to explore a potential affiliation in 2020, citing the potential to strengthen the health care, human service and social determinants of a health safety net for the Capital Region’s most vulnerable citizens through combined resources and staff. Following the development of an affiliation agreement that addresses operational structure, information systems, administrative provisions, and a master services agreement, approval from several federal and state regulatory entities is required. It could take up to a year to finalize approvals.
■ The state Department of Environmental Conservation determined that cleanup requirements to address contamination related to the South Island Apartments site at 5 to 35 Starbuck Ave., Green Island, under New York State’s Brownfield Cleanup Program, “have been or will be met.” The cleanup was done by South Island Apartments with DEC oversight, which said it issued a certificate of completion for the site. Development of a marina, housing and entertainment project on a former oil tank farm was proposed in 2019.
■ The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District celebrates the grand opening of Forever Royal Hair Studio, 150 Fourth St., with a ribboncutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The event is open to the public.
■ Officials from SUNY Schenectady and Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (India) will sign a memorandum of understanding to develop academic and educational cooperation between the two institutions. This is the first of its kind agreement for both institutions.
■ Hudson Valley Community College and the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Costa Rica held a virtual ceremony on Thursday to sign a memorandum of understanding that will expand and formalize the college’s educational and training outreach in Costa Rica.
