Purdue rallies to beat Villanova

Zach Edey scores 21 points to lead No. 6 Boilermake­rs

Zach Edey scored 21 points and No. 6 Purdue overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to beat No. 5 Villanova 80-74 on Sunday and win the Hall of Fame Tip- Off Tournament. Caleb Furst and Isaiah Thompson each added 12 points for the Boilermake­rs (5-0), who outscored the Wildcats 38-18 in the paint.

Justin Moore had 19 points, Caleb Daniels added 17 and Collin Gillespie had 14 for Villanova (3-2).

No. 17 Tennessee 89, No. 18 North Carolina 72: Freshman Zakai Zeigler scored 18 points to lead Tennessee over North Carolina. Brady Manek scored 24 points for the Tar Heels.

No. 22 St. Bonaventur­e 70, Marquette 54: Jaren Holmes had 19 points and a career-high 13 rebounds, Osun Osunniyi added 16 points and 11 rebounds and No. 22 St. Bonaventur­e beat Marquette to win the Charleston Classic. Osunniyi — who went into the game as the NCAA’S active leader in blocks per game (2.73) and had four on Sunday — made 8 of 10 shots from the field. Jalen Adaway had 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting and Kyle Lofton added 12 points, four assists and two steals. Marquette missed its first nine field-goal attempts in the second half.

Women

No. 3 Maryland 79, No. 6 Baylor 76: Ashley Owusu scored 24 points and No. 3 Maryland handed No. 6 Baylor its first loss of the post-kim Mulkey era. The Terrapins (6-0) led 76-65 before a furious Baylor rally nearly forced OT.

No. 2 Uconn 60, No. 23 South Florida 53:

Paige Bueckers had 21 points and seven assists to help Uconn hold off South Florida in the Battle 4 Atlantis semifinals. Freshman Azzi Fudd added 18 points on six 3-pointers for the Huskies (3-0).

No. 1 South Carolina 80, No. 9 Oregon 63: Zia Cooke scored 20 points and Laeticia Amihere added 18 to help South Carolina rout Oregon in the Battle 4 Atlantis semifinals.

No. 7 Stanford 66, Gonzaga 62: Hannah Jump and Francesca Belibi each scored 14 points for Stanford in its narrow win over Gonzaga. Cameron Brink scored 12 points for Stanford.

No. 16 Tennessee 76, No. 12

Texas 70 (OT): Jordan Horston scored 28 points with 15 rebounds, both career highs, and Tennessee made 6 of 8 free throws in overtime to defeat Texas.. Mississipp­i State transfer Aliyah Matharu led the Longhorns.

Auburn 59, No. 18 Georgia Tech 51: Honesty Scott-grayson scored 18, Aicha Coulibaly added 14 and Auburn used a big first half to topple Georgia Tech.

No. 14 Iowa State 96, Southern 55: Aubrey Joens hit five 3-pointers, scoring 21 points to lead Iowa State.

No. 17 Florida State 76, Grambling 53: Morgan Jones scored a career-high 25 points and Florida State won over Grambling. Alexus Holt finished with 13 to lead Grambling (2-2).

No. 19 Kentucky 92, Winthrop 47: Rhyne Howard had the third triple-double in Kentucky history to lead the Wildcats over Winthrop.

No. 20 UCLA 69, Virginia 57: Natalie Chou scored 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting, Iimar’i Thomas added 19 and UCLA beat Virginia. Jaelynn Penn added 16 for UCLA.

No. 22 West Virginia 83, Radford 31: Kirsten Deans scored 16 points and 10 of 11 Mountainee­rs scored in a rout.
