WEST ALBANY — Jean M. Stella, 91, entered eternal life on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Born in Albany to the late Philip and Mary Bradley Mooney.

Jean was the first female fire commission­er of the West Albany Fire Department and was past president of West Albany Fire Department #2 Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to the fire department, Jean was a member of the Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520 Ladies Auxiliary. Jean worked as the NYNEX Northeast Business Systems manager for years.

Jean was an avid reader of almost anything especially history books. She had a love for computer games, traveling with her husband and her annual family trip to Cape Cod.

Jean was willing to lend anyone a helping hand. But above all she loved her family and spending time with them.

In addition to her parents Jean was predecease­d by her husband of over 67 years, Charles J. Stella; her siblings, Harry, Edward and Richard Mooney and Katherine Dwyer.

Jean is survived by her children, Patricia Fleury, Steven (Marjorie) Stella, Pamela Stella (Scott Miller), Mark (Andrea) Stella, Brian Stella, Lisa Smith and Thomas Stella; grandchild­ren, Victoria Fleury, Rosemary Stella, Charles Stella II, Laura Stella, Jean Rock, Brian Stella, Tyler and Wyatt Smith; great-grandchild­ren, Meadow Stella, Landon and Melody Schaming, Oliver and Wesley Smith; her nephew John Ray; also, several nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 24, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., (Rev John J. Bradley Way) Albany at 10:30 a.m. where her funeral Mass will be celebrated.

The Rite of Committal will immediatel­y follow the Mass in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.

There will be no public visitation.

A celebratio­n of life will also be held at a future date.
