Uconn falls to No. 7, its lowest rank in 14 years
Uconn dropped four spots to No. 7 in the women’s AP Top 25, its lowest ranking in 14 years after losing its first game against an unranked team since 2012. South Carolina remained the unanimous top choice, followed by N.C. State, Stanford, Arizona and Baylor. The Wildcats now have their best ranking ever at No. 4.

Men’s college basketball: Baylor became the fourth different team at No. 1 in the past four weeks in the AP Top 25 poll. The Bears (9-0) were followed by former No. 1s Duke and Purdue along with UCLA and Gonzaga, which spent the first two weeks of the season there.
College: Louisville deputy athletic director Josh Heird has been appointed as interim AD to replace Vince Tyra, who resigned last Thursday after four years.
Skiing: Petra Vlhova will stick to her reduced World Cup schedule, sitting out the downhill and super-g events, making it unlikely she’ll become a threat to Mikaela Shiffrin’s bid for the overall title. The Slovakian is in third place, 185 points behind Shiffrin in the World Cup standings. Sofia Goggia is second, 90 points behind
Shiffrin.
Tennis: U.S. Open champ Emma Raducanu tested positive for COVID-19 and pulled out of an event in UAE.
Olympics: Two-time Olympic swimming champion Yannick Agnel admitted to having a relationship with an underage girl but denied coercion, the prosecutor in the Frenchman’s rape case said.
Soccer: Alex Morgan was traded from the Orlando Pride to the San Diego Wave, which will begin play in the NWSL next season. Terms of the deal were undisclosed . ... The U.S. Soccer Federation and the union for its women’s national team agreed to a three-month extension of their labor contract through March, the same day players filed a brief asking a federal appeals court to reinstate their equal pay claim . ...
