Several charges follow Canajohari­e-area chase

CANAJOHARI­E — A Cherry Valley man, 29, faces several charges after a car chase that started just after 7 a.m. in the village of Canajohari­e, the Montgomery County sheriff ’s office said.

The driver was spotted going east on Route 5 and ignored orders to stop by deputies and State Police and struck two sheriff ’s vehicles before his car landed in a ditch, the sheriff ’s office said. He ran but was arrested soon afterward.

Among the charges he faces are felony driving while ability impaired/drugs (two prior conviction­s), unlawful fleeing a police officer, resisting arrest, reckless driving and felony criminal mischief, authoritie­s said. He was arraigned and jailed without bail.
