Region helps in relief effort
Medical supplies and monetary aid collections ongoing
and All Saints Catholic Academy students in Albany are collecting medical supplies and monetary donations for Ukraine.
All Saints’ Church held a community-wide Prayer Service for Peace in Ukraine on Sunday during which supplies and donations were collected.
Financial contributions dropped off at the church at 16 Homestead St. will be used to help defray shipping charges. The supplies will shipped by air to Poland and then transported by trucks into Ukraine.
At Sunday’s service, University at Albany students and All Saints congregants read Ukrainian poems.
Also, students at All Saints Catholic Academy made “Pinwheels for Peace” with sunflowers on them (the national flower of Ukraine) for the service and were handed out to attendees.
Blue and yellow ribbons, representing the colors of Ukraine’s flag, were also made for distribution.
Jewish Federation of
Northeastern New
York, along with Jewish Federations across North America, surpassed its $20 million goal, raising and allocating $24.5 million in two weeks to help secure the Jewish community of Ukraine and others facing wartime difficulties.
Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York raised more than $65,000 toward the effort.
On Saturday, Yankee Trails is sponsoring a “Rolling for Ukraine” trip to New York City with 100 percent of proceeds from the trip being donated to Ukrainian relief efforts.
The trip costs $40 per person, round trip via Yankee Trails. Every dollar spent on the trip will go to relief efforts to help the people of Ukraine.
