Harbinger caps Umass career

Clifton Park native finishes graduate year with style

Kendra Harbinger had a standout career at the University at Albany, and she didn’t miss a beat when she decided to do her graduate work and play women’s lacrosse at the University of Massachuse­tts this season.

Harbinger, from Clifton Park and a Shenendeho­wa High graduate, was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference second team after leading the Minutewome­n in scoring. She finished with 49 goals and 13 assists, with four gamewinner­s. She had five goals and three assists in a 20-8 league victory over Virginia Commonweal­th on April 1 and had four four-goal games and six threegoal games on the season.

At Ualbany, Harbinger was America East Rookie of the Year as a freshman and a two-time league second-team pick. She had 48 points as a senior and finished with 160 points on 113 goals and 47 assists with the Great Danes, giving her 162 goals and 60 assists for 222 points in her college career.

Senior Amy Moreau (Schuylervi­lle High) had a solid all-around season for Umass with 16 goals, five assists, 47 draw controls, 27 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers.

The Minutewome­n finished with a 16-3 record and were beaten 15-10 by St. Joseph’s in the league title game last Saturday in Amherst. Harbinger was named to the All-championsh­ip team.

Izzy Hussey (Saratoga Springs)

The sophomore, a Saratoga High graduate, has been coxswain on either the second Varsity 8 or first Varsity 4-plus boats for the Louisville women’s rowing team. The Cardinals are set to compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championsh­ip starting next Wednesday in Clemson, S.C. Senior Madeline Dodd (Saratoga High) is with the second Varsity 8, and freshman Kaylie Leonard (Shenendeho­wa High) is with the third Varsity 8 boat.

Connor Mchugh (Latham)

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound junior was named to D3baseball.com’s Team of the Week on April 26. The left-hander, a Shaker High graduate, also earned Empire 8 Pitcher of the Week on April 25 after he went 2-0 the previous week for the St. John Fisher baseball team. He pitched 10 innings and gave up two hits with no runs and nine strikeouts. He’s 6-1 with a 1.70 earned-run average. Shenendeho­wa High graduates Nick Lemire (.343) and Ben Lavery (.313) are among the top hitters for the 26-12 Cardinals.

Lindsey Frank (Saratoga Springs)

The junior earned a pair of awards for her play with the Richmond women’s lacrosse team this season. The Saratoga High graduate was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference first team on April 27 and was selected to the All-championsh­ip Tournament team last Saturday. Frank, a second team All-conference pick last season, finished with a team-high 50 goals and ranked second in goals per game (2.78) and third in points per game (4.00) in the conference. She also finished with 22 assists to give her 72 points.

Victoria Hamilton (East Greenbush)

The Columbia High graduate was a member of the second Varsity 4 boat, which took a bronze medal and helped the Marist women’s rowing team capture the team title at the New York State Championsh­ip April 24 on Saratoga Lake. Following the competitio­n, Hamilton was honored by the college in a Senior Day ceremony.

Jake Manderson (Ballston Spa)

The junior right-hander had a win and a save to help the 30-8 Georgetown (Ky.) baseball team top Pikesville in the bestof-three playoff and earn a bid into this weekend’s Mid-south Conference Championsh­ip in Bowling Green, Ky. The Ballston Spa High graduate had the save in a 4-2 victory over Pikesville on April 29. He pitched a seven-inning completega­me 10-0 triumph over Pikesville on April 28. Manderson is 6-3 with three saves on the season. He was named to the league’s second team.

Ethan Ehrlich (Albany)

The Tampa freshman helped the Spartans finish first out of seven schools at the Sunshine State Invitation­al on April 25 in Tampa, Fla. The Shaker High graduate ran the third leg on the 1,600 relay, which finished first with a school-record time of 3 minutes, 22.24 seconds. He also finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a seasonbest time of 51.53 and was 13th in the 200 in 23.63.
