SCHENECTDA­Y — Thomas "Tom" Richard Lavoy, 72, passed away on June 1, 2022, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital with his wife, Susan Holcomb Lavoy of Schenectad­y, and friends by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Tom was born on August 13, 1949, in Schenectad­y to the late Arnold Roy and Ethel (Zitzmann) Lavoy. Tom attended Schenectad­y public schools and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1967 - 1968. Tom was awarded several medals while serving his tour of duty in Vietnam. He was self-employed as a building contractor for many years throughout the Tri-city area. Tom enjoyed working on various personal projects and was a skilled craftsman. Tom enjoyed being outdoors, nature, boating, target practice and spending time with his wonderful friends.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan Holcomb Lavoy and his four-legged constant companion Sami; his loving brother, Robert "Bob" Lavoy; and his devoted nephew Robert (Bobby) Lavoy. Tom was predecease­d by his parents, Arnold and Ethel Lavoy.

The Lavoy family extends their heartfelt thanks to all those who provided care and showed compassion for Tom including the staff at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital; Roswell Park at Ellis staff and Dr. Jose David.

A memorial gathering will be scheduled at a later date.
