Byers, Georgette

-

SCHODACK — Georgette Byers, 94, died peacefully at her beloved home on Thursday, June 9, 2022.

For those who knew Georgette, they understood that her predeceased husband, Thomas Byers, was her soul. They were blessed to be married for 63 years. Not a day went by where she did not mourn his loss and hold his memory as her greatest light. The beauty of her passing is that she is now reunited with the love and light of her life.

Georgette was born and raised in Castleton, the daughter of the late George Vincent Collins and Margaret A. Collins. She loved her community and remained a resident until her last breath.

She worked for 34 years at Mulleneaux Insurance in Albany as a senior clerk. She loved sharing stories of the many office parties and Friday afternoon business meetings with her fellow coworkers. Georgette and Tommy’s marriage was a loving example of an unbreakable bond. They grew their lives together building houses and raising crops; working together in everything they did - side-by-side. As they built their lives they built life long friendships that remained a strong part of their lives. Georgette cherished those individuals and was truly grateful for their loving support throughout the years.

Georgette was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Collins, George V. Collins, Allen Collins and Robert T. Allen Collins and Robert T. Collins; and her sister, Margaret Vrooman. She loved her siblings dearly and often told many stories about their growing up as a family. Georgette is survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

A special thank you to Nadia Assaf-cole and Katie Dempsey for their support and care during this last year.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a funeral service starting at 6 p.m. at the Castleton Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Avenue, Castleton-on-hudson.
