Kevin Carney, Burnt Hills-ballston Lake boys’ lacrosse: The senior scored two goals in the first half Wednesday in the Spartans’ 16-5 Class C state semifinal setback against Manhasset.
Kady Duffy, Queensbury girls’ lacrosse: Netted five goals, including the game winner with 1:39 left in overtime, in a 9-8 triumph over Westhampton Beach in the Class B state semifinals. The eighth grader also tallied a goal in 14-5 loss against Victor in the final.
Brigid Duffy, Queensbury girls’ lacrosse: The senior finished with a single-season school record of 89 goals after scoring one goal in the Class B semifinal and final.
MK Lescault, Burnt Hills-ballston Lake girls’ lacrosse: The junior delivered a teamhigh four goals in a 20-10 Class C state semifinal loss against Manhasset.
Maggie Lescault, Burnt Hills-ballston Lake girls’ lacrosse: Produced two goals and one assist in a 20-10 setback against Manhasset.
Ella Blesi, Burnt Hills-ballston Lake girls’ lacrosse: Scored twice in the Spartans’ 20-10 defeat against Manhasset.
Ethan Nardacci, Averill Park baseball: Tossed a two-hitter with five strikeouts and produced two hits and two runs as the Warriors beat Maine-endwell 7-0 in the Class A state semifinals. The junior also had two hits and two RBIS in a 3-0 state title victory over Hamburg.
Brady Mazzeo, Averill Park baseball: The junior scattered six hits and struck out seven in leading the Warriors past Hamburg for the Class A state championship.
Alex Yash, Averill Park baseball: The Warriors’ third baseman tripled and scored a run in a 7-0 Class A state semifinal win against Maine-endwell.
Ryan Dow, Schuylerville baseball: Finished with a seven-hitter and struck out five in leading the Black Horses to a 4-2 win over Westhill in the Class B state semifinals.
Carson Patrick, Schuylerville baseball: Delivered a two-run double in a 6-4 loss in eight innings to Spackenkill in the Class B state final.
Tyler Kneller, Chatham baseball: Tossed a two-hitter and struck 15 in helping to power the Panthers past Adirondack 5-0 in the Class C state semifinals.
Tate Van Alstyne, Chatham baseball: Clubbed a grand slam in the seventh inning to help the Panthers post a 5-0 win against Adirondack in the Class C state semifinals.
Mike Pierro, Chatham baseball: Drove in what proved to be the game winning run in the top of the eighth with an RBI triple, helping the Panthers defeat Chester 6-4 in the Class C state final.
Kierra Laranjo, Troy softball: The catcher produced an RBI single in the Flying Horses’ 4-2 Class A state semifinal loss against Vestal.
Olivia Decitise, Troy softball: The junior star struck out 14 in a 4-2 loss against Vestal in the Class A state semifinals.
Kari Graziano, Ichabod Crane softball: Tossed a three-hitter, struck out four and added three hits and four RBIS in a 14-2 decision over Depew and allowed six hits to go along with two hits and two RBIS as the Riders blanked Chenango Valley to claim the program’s third Class B state title since 2015.
Emma Scheitinger, Ichabod Crane softball: The junior shortstop produced three hits and three RBIS in a 12-0 triumph over Chenango Valley in the Class B state final that capped a 25-0 campaign.
Ava Heffner, Ichabod Crane softball: The sophomore finished with two hits and two RBIS in a 12-0 victory over Chenango Valley.
Clare Knapp, Ichabod Crane softball: The senior first baseman belted a two-run home run and doubled as the Riders defeated Depew in the Class B semifinals.
Makayla Walsh, Ichabod Crane softball: Generated three hits and drove in three runs to help the Riders dispatch Depew 14-2 in the Class B semifinals.
Lily Mccauliffe, Greenwich softball: Fired a two-hitter and struck out 11 in a 5-0 win against Avon and allowed just three hits with nine strikeouts as the Witches beat Greene 4-1 in eight inning to claim the program’s second Class C state title.
Faith Ingber, Greenwich softball: Drove in the winning run with an infield single in the top of the eighth inning in helping the Witches edge Greene 4-1 for the Class C state championship.
Maddy Eldred, Argyle softball: Hit a solo home run in the Scots’ 8-3 loss against Oriskany in the Class D state semifinals.
Kennedy Swedick, Albnay Academy for Girls’ golf: The sophomore shot an even-par round of 72 in the final round at Mcgregor Links Country Club to claim the state championship with a two-day score of 144.
Trey Smith, Greenville boys’ golf: The senior finished seventh at the state championships played at Elmira’s Mark Twain Golf Course with a two-day total of 146.
Carter Cukerstein, Shenendehowa boys’ track: The senior produced a superlative two-day showing at the state championships held at Cicero-north Syracuse. He captured both the 100-meter Division I title (10.59 seconds) and the Federation championship (10.76 seconds), plus ran the anchor leg for the 400 relay that captured both the Division I and Federation titles and finished second in Division I and fifth in the Federation in the 200.
Gitch Hayes, La Salle boys’ track: Produced title wins in both Division I and the Federation in the 800 (1:53.69) and the 1,600 (4:09.94), plus came in third in the 3,200 at the state meet.
Julian Franjieh, Niskayuna boys’ track: The senior, who will begin running in the fall at Syracuse University, captured the Division I state title with a Section II record time of 9:01.19 in the Division I 3,000 steeplechase.
Alessandro Saltsman, Fonda boys’ track: Headed to the University at Albany to continue his career, Saltsman earned wins in both the Division II discus and shot put Friday and added the Federation championship in the discus Saturday with a winning toss of 182 feet, 5 inches.
Garrett Mcheard, Amsterdam boys’ track: Secured victory in the Division I shot put (56-3 1/2) Friday and also finished second Saturday in the Federation shot put (54-8).
Carter Petersen, Fonda boys’ track: Earned the Division II state championship in the pole vault (15-6) and finished second in the Division II 110 hurdles (15.30).
Neil Howard, Taconic Hills boys’ track: The sophomore star captured Division II and Federation titles in the long jump (23-0 and 23-10 1/2, respectively). He also won the Division II state championship in the 400 hurdles (55.76), becoming the school’s first state champion since John Dunn in 1974, and added a third in the Federation 400 hurdles (54.69).
Zionna Perez-tucker, Mohonasen girls’ track: The senior claimed the Federation championship Saturday in the 100 (12.08) to go along with second-place finishes in the Division I 100, 200 and Federation 200.
Gianna Locci, Stillwater girls’ track: Posted victories in the Division II and Federation long jumps, winning with distances of 20-6 (Section II record Friday) and 20-3 (Saturday), helped the 400 relay squad win the Division II championship and captured the Division II championship in the 200.
Kelly Moran, Stillwater girls’ track: Won Division II title in the triple jump, finished second in the Division II long jump and was part of the Warriors’ Division II winning 400 relay squad.
Nina Sgambelluri, Greenwich girls’ track: The senior claimed Division II championships in both the 1,500 (4:32.58) and the 3,000 (9:50.75) at the state meet.
Zoie Tesi, Gloversville girls’ track: Tesi, a sophomore, earned the title in Division II high jump with a winning height of 5-5.
Uchenna Uba, Ravena girls’ track: Captured the Division II state title in the discus (132-10) and finished second in the Division II shot put (38-2 1/2).
Team of the week
Averill Park baseball: The Warriors, seeded fifth for the Section II Class A playoffs, capped a historic season with back-to-back shutout victories over Maine-endwell (7-0) and Hamburg (3-0) to secure the program’s first state championship.
