TROY — Eleanor A. (Kilmer) Burns, 74, died peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

She was born in Troy on February 18, 1948, the daughter of the late Fred S. and Eleanor L. Goyer Kilmer. Eleanor was a graduate of Troy High School. She was employed briefly by Matthew Bender in Menands. She later was employed for over 33 years by Rensselaer Polytechni­c Institute in Troy in the computer center as the business administra­tor before retiring.

Eleanor was an active member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 3 in Watervliet for over 35 years. In 2012, she was the grand marshal of the Albany St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

She was a communican­t of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and taking care of her cats.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas R. Burns Sr.; loving mother of Thomas R. Burns Jr. of Cohoes; dear sister of Arthur F. (Heather) Kilmer of Troy; and aunt of Jessica (Stephen) Trowbridge, Benjamin A. (Allison) Kilmer, Ricky Cotrona and Kerrianne English. Eleanor is also survived by her best friend, Jeri Hess; and her two beloved cats, Mickey and Toby.

The funeral will be on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6 p.m.
