Gamecocks erase 11-point deficit in title game rematch

HARTFORD, Conn. — Aliyah Boston scored 23 of her 26 points in the second half, including 14 in the fourth quarter, to help defending champion and No. 1 South Carolina beat fifth-ranked Uconn 81-77 on Sunday in a rematch of last season’s national championsh­ip game.

Aaliyah Edwards scored 25 to lead the short-handed Huskies, who outscored the Gamecocks 25-14 in the opening period.

Washington 72, Stanford 67:

Elle Ladine scored 21 points and Delayah Daniels made two key free throws with 8 seconds left, helping Washington knock off No. 2 Stanford.

LSU 72, Texas A&M 66: Angel Reese had 26 points and 22 rebounds to lead No. 3 LSU.

Indiana 69, Purdue 46:

Sydney Parrish and Mackenzie Holmes each scored 15 points and No. 4 Indiana won its 10th straight.

Iowa 95, Penn State: 51: Caitlin Clark had 23 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds to lead No. 6 Iowa.

Utah 100, Oregon 92:

Alissa Pili scored a season-high 30 points and No. 7 Utah moved into a tie for first place in the Pac-12 Conference.

Maryland 90, Ohio State 54:

Diamond Miller scored 16 of her 29 points in the third quarter, and No. 8 Maryland routed No. 10 Ohio State 90-54 in the program’s most lopsided win over a top-10 opponent.

UCLA 82, Arizona State 63: Charisma Osborne had 23 points, Londynn Jones added 20 off the bench, and No. 14 UCLA snapped a three-game skid.

Duke 57, Notre Dame 52:

Celeste Taylor scored 14 points and No. 16 Duke came from behind at No. 9 Notre Dame.

Louisville 62, North Carolina 55:

Chrislyn Carr scored 11 of her 17 points in the third quarter to propel Louisville to an upset of No. 11 North Carolina, ending the Tar Heels’ eightgame winning streak.

Arizona 81, USC 75:

Cate Reese scored a career-high 33 points, including four clinching free throws in the last 7.5 seconds of the second overtime, for No. 22 Arizona.

Michigan 77, Michigan State 67:

Leigha Brown scored 19 of her 29 points in the second half and finished two assists shy of a triple-double to lead No. 18 Michigan. Matilda Ekh scored 12 for the Spartans.

Men Syracuse:

Jim Boeheim, 78, said following Saturday’s victory at Boston College that he’s leaning toward returning for a 48th season as the head coach at his alma mater.

Colorado State apologized for a group of fans who chanted “Russia” at a player on an opposing team who is from Ukraine during Saturday’s game. Utah State’s Max Shulga is from Kyiv and was shooting free throws when TV cameras picked up the chant from the student section during the game in Fort Collins, Colorado. Russia invaded Ukraine nearly a year ago. “On behalf of Colorado State, we apologize to the student-athlete and Utah State,” Colorado State said in a statement. “Every participan­t, student, and fan should feel welcomed in our venues, and for something like this to have occurred is unacceptab­le at Colorado State.” Utah State beat CSU 88-79.
